The above topic – “WHY” also means “Purpose” . I know you’ve heard of the word “purpose” a thousand time.
Somehow , I developed an habit of asking myself the question “Why?” in almost everything I do or think about. Why I’m I doing this? Because of time. I want to know if I’m using my time wisely. I want to know if I’m being “productive” OR “blindly” busy. I want you to do a little exercise now, just ask yourself (right now) – “Why I’m I reading this article?” If you CANNOT provide a sound answer or reason, quit reading this (right now). Don’t even go further because it will not (this article) be of use to you.
If perhaps, you do find a sound reason for reading this – Congratulations! You aren’t wasting your time. Why are you doing what you’re doing? Why are you in school? Why do you choose to be an entrepreneur? Why are you in that relationship? Why are you facing such difficult challenges? In fact, why are you winning? Figure out your why first, and it will be your driving force to the very end.
Not long ago, I was at a seminar, and the speaker unveiled a very powerful acronym for the word WHY. He said it meant ;
The pain (hurt) is your ultimate fuel. Be very clear about your reasons for doing something and tie it to your goals. This “little or mental” practice gives you an edge over the rest. If you ever find yourself doing something because others or most people are doing it means you’re doing the wrong thing! You have got to always always and again always have a bigger reason for doing things.
Most people are immersed in the act of doing things without even figuring out why they started in the first place. The truth is , everyone one has a why but their WHY isn’t big enough! Don’t get confused, let me break down my message for you in tiny bites:
- Have a reason (Why) for everything you do (even sleeping!)
- Expand your why. Have a BIGGER why!
- Attach your why to your goals.
- Make sure your why is big enough to kick your ass and get you moving.
- ACT upon your why.
I really do think that “WHY?” is the most important question one needs to keep on asking to get the right answers.
Are you getting the right answers in your life or business? Yes or No? Now ask yourself – “Why I’m I getting or NOT getting the right answers?”
The answer to the above question is your magic wand or solution! Wake up today and hold on to your WHY!
