Have you heard of moonlight stories? Kids love it. Humans as a specie love stories. What kind of stories do you love? Literally, when I was a kid , I remember vividly that the phrase “Once Upon A Time…” always caught my attention because I knew that a great story was about to be told or revealed. The phrase “Once Upon A Time..”, mostly used to be moral stories.
Unfortunately today , good morals have drastically reduced, right or wrong? You know its right. As far as I could remember , the moonlight stories were always fascinating , meaningful , and most importantly , they were usually stories that somehow spoke about heroism and good conduct. It could be stories about the Lion , the tortoise , the elephant , the hare , the mouse , the horse , and sometimes , these stories , evolves around the heroes of the past. I cherished stories mostly about the Lion (Because of its COURAGE), loved listening to the stories about the tortoise (Because of its WISDOM) , and I LOVED listening to stories about past heroes.
The heroes I heard about then were traditional heroes i.e brave hunters and brave warriors. Few years later came cartoons. I could remember I didn’t like to miss Super man , Batman , and Spider man series. These cartoon series (Superman, Batman, Spiderman) , sometimes would begin with the phrase “once upon a time”.
Even if these were fictional stories or made up stories i.e the cartoons, I realized that the moonlight stories were more real because it consists of stories that actually happened. So what’s the point of my “Once Upon A Time” gig?
This is my point – Growing up listening to moonlight stories , I realized some stories I heard weren’t theoretical, they were stories of people that actually existed and made great impact! If you still don’t understand the concept, let me ask you a few simple questions – “When you are gone (Dead) ,what will people say about you?”. What will you be remembered for? If you think of someone like Steve Jobs of Apple, what registers in your mind? Greatness or mediocrity? What about Mohammed Ali?
Now , what’s going to be your story? Based on the concept above (topic of the article), imagine someone telling their kids a story about you when you’re gone , how’s your Once-Upon-A-Time story gonna be?
Think About That And Have A Great Week Ahead!
