Is Motivation A Scam?

Few days ago, a very supportive friend of mine made clear his opinion to me.

He said something in the lines of ;”I don’t want to be a motivational speaker, I want to be a teacher.

Motivational speaking requires a lot of energy. I just want to teach people surefire principles”.

Sincerely, I respect his opinion. At least, he knows exactly what he wants.

About 24 hours ago, a social media marketing trainer, Tunny Ogunowo, who is a very good friend of mine , posted something controversial yesterday.

The post read thus :”If your major source of motivation is from motivational messages, books, and events, you’re in deep trouble…. Yes, I said it”.

While that post might sound theoretically correct, it is flat wrong in reality. Why? Read on.

What is motivation? Motivation is a word that stems from the word “motive”.

Motive simply means; “An incentive to act; a reason for doing something; anything that prompted a choice of action”.

With the above definition, I’m glad to let you know that my friend and Tunny Ogunowo are both motivational speakers.

Tunny Ogunowo is a social media marketing expert as I stated earlier (You can google the name).

He knows exactly how to get people to come to his events or trainings.

He is very good at giving people solid REASONS to come to his events.

If you’re getting confused, go back to the definition of “motive” I defined above.

My friend on the other hand is a master at motivational speaking (He just doesn’t know it) .

He has a way of getting under my skin (With his words) to take action.

Most people I meet have a disdain for the word “Motivation”.

Where as, that word is one of the best words on the planet after “Love”.

Let’s face it, if you can get a girl or guy to love you for real, you aren’t just a motivational speaker, you’re a motivation!

Why? Because you’ve given them a solid REASON or INCENTIVE to do so.

Motivation isn’t about using aggression to talk or spewing out theoretical junks.

Motivation is about telling the truth!

I have a saying ; If you want to get motivated or inspired, sit yourself down and tell yourself the truth” – (Mr Mih).

Motivation in it’s pure form is a blessing. Why condemn it?

Millions of lives have changed positively and drastically because they went to an event (Usually motivational).

Millions of lives (Including mine) have changed massively by simply reading a book (Which are mostly motivational).

In my opinion, the people who condemn or criticize motivation (in it’s pure form) are lazy people.

They are too lazy to take action or are comfortable doing less.

The essence of motivation is to ignite you to take ACTION.

If you’re not taking action, it’s simply because you haven’t found a solid reason (PURPOSE) to do so.

The problem isn’t motivation, the problem is you.

Motivation doesn’t work unless you do.

Motivation is just a label.

The true meaning of motivation is TRUTH.

It’s impossible to take action when you’re lying to yourself. Tell the truth!Embrace motivation.

Take action plus I urge you to attend motivational events and read motivational books.

Keep learning. Keep moving. Step out of your comfort zone.

Motivation is NOT a scam. People scam themselves (Of their true potentials).

Motivation is a blessing in it’s pure form. Embrace the truth!

People have enough pushing them down, pointing out their faults. Why don’t you be the one to push them up, to see the best in them, to help them get free? – Joel Osteen.

Make It Happen.
