I want to assume that you already know some basic things about leadership.
Things like being ; A great listener, being humble, empathy, being compassionate etc.
Without a doubt , leadership is NOT really about making noise. Certainly, it also isn’t about being “calm and sweet”.
The way leadership is painted online , you would think leadership is all about being humble, friendly and sweet.
Of course, leadership involves being “friendly and sweet”, BUT being “friendly and sweet” alone doesn’t guarantee you to be a great leader.
Being “humble and sweet” has nothing to do with your leadership skills. It’s more about individual personalities.
If you look at history, you’ll find great leaders who were “calm, nice and sweet”.
You’ll also find great leaders who were decisive, intense, and super aggressive. These kind of leaders are often labeled as “mean”.
Yes, I know. Leadership is about having a great attitude.
Thus, great leaders have ONE attitude in common – They have the “I-HAVE-to-get-it-done” kind of attitude.
They don’t point fingers. They take charge. They take control.
They don’t whine like a cry baby. They often cut straight to the chase cos they KNOW what they’re doing!
Just because you stay at the front row doesn’t guarantee you a leader. Your job as a leader is NOT to “talk” about how to get it done.
Your major duty as a leader is to SHOW your team how it’s done. Your job is to walk your talk!
Being outspoken and aggressive doesn’t make you a bad leader.
Being the “cool cat” doesn’t guarantee that you are fit for leadership either.
Leadership involves being flexible. You can be playful one minute and the next minute, get super intense.
A lot of people complain about their boss. I’ve done the same. What we don’t realize is this; Talking is way different from being on the hot seat.
The need to constantly deliver is always there. The need to raise the bars. The need to leave the competition in the dust.
This could lead to tremendous amount of focus and intensity – The need to be an excellent example to your team and the society.
The business world is way different from your neighborhood where you are cherished and loved.
It is not a war zone either but it is a place where you keep yourself and your team on their toes ALWAYS – If at all you want to be recognized.
Bottom line – Do YOU! Forget about the crap you see on the tabloids. Win ethically.
No one is perfect – Do whatever you need to do to get your desired results (Ethically).
It doesn’t matter if you are white or black. It don’t matter if you’re calm or aggressive – Just pull it off!
Execute and deliver results. Make sure your team does the same. If you don’t get results, you get excuses.
There are basically two types of leaders ;
The one that gets desired results OR the one that constantly gets excuses?
