Last week I read a short book – Actually, it was a free eBook by Jason Capital.
Just in case you don’t know him, you can find out more about him HERE.
Read to the end before you do that tho.
A story caught my full attention while reading the book – Even though I’ve read of the story several times before this moment.
The story went somehow like this ;
“A cub (Baby lion) found itself somehow in the midst of sheep from childhood. It milked from a ship, ate with other sheep.
It made friends with sheep. Couldn’t think on it’s own, always moving around with sheep.
They moved together in flocks till it became matured.
Even at that (When the lion got matured) , the lion was still living in the perception that it was a sheep just like the rest.
When a lion like it roars, it fled just like the rest of the sheep.
The sheep the lion mingled around with, were also convinced that the lion was part of them since they’ve known each other since childhood.
They thought it just had a different look but their vibes were pretty much the same.
One day, a lion in the jungle was hungry and felt the uncontrollable urge to go hunt.
As it was scanning through flocks of sheep, the lion was extremely surprised at what he saw.
He saw a lion like itself in the midst of sheep acting pretty much the same like a sheep.
The lion roared and the sheep scattered running for their lives as usual.
The lion got even more surprised that a lion like itself was running along with the sheep.
Long story short, the lion ran after the other lion that had the perception of himself being a sheep and took the lion to a nearby river.
The lion (That grew in the midst of sheep) for the first time in it’s life realized it was a Lion as he realized he looked exactly the same like the king of the jungle.
He felt an incredible energy run through his veins.
The Lion (From the jungle), took the other lion (That grew up amongst sheep) to the mountain and taught him how to roar.
He roared and saw the sheep he grew up with fled for their dear lives.
It was at this moment that this Lion realized He was wasting away his potentials thinking he was a sheep.
It was at that moment he became a true lion just like he really is“.
End of story!
Lesson Learnt :
There are a few lessons to be learnt from the above story but I would like to narrow down the lesson to one.
Yes, one vital lesson ;
Just because you grew up in a certain environment doesn’t mean you belong there. You could be so much more.
The truth is this ; You’ll never really get to discover your true potentials if you are satisfied with where you are or what you are doing.
What if you could be more? What if you were built to do a thousand times more of what you’re currently doing?
Raise Your Standards!
While it’s super important to be grateful, it’s also very vital to KNOW deep down inside of you that you ain’t even started yet.
In my world, I’m almost never satisfied with my performance.
It’s not because I’m comparing myself to others. It’s simply because I’ve been conscious enough to be aware that I could do so much more.
While the rest of the world is subconsciously yelling at you to “cool off”, I’m telling you to tune it up cos the truth is ; you ain’t even started.
Quit patting yourself in the back. Maybe you should try pushing yourself up to a whole new level and see if you can handle it or not.
Dreams die in comfort.
Just because you are doing better than your colleagues or neighbors doesn’t mean you’ve hit your true potentials!
I’m I sounding too pushy, edgy hot or motivational ? Maybe not.
You know deep down that I’m telling you the truth and without a doubt, this is way beyond being motivational!
This is plain truth!
The lion inside of you wants to roar but you keep allowing the “sheepish” environment you grew up in dominate your thinking.
Maybe it’s time to wake up and play at another level.
It’s time to realize that you could be more. You can do more. Quit being a sheep. Let the lion in you roar!
See you next time and have a blissful weekend!
