Truth be told, I didn’t get this advice from a millionaire, I got this piece of advice from a multimillionaire.
I was still schooling at the time, but it was during the holidays – Still very young.
Plus, when I received this advice, he wasn’t personally talking to me, it was a group discussion but I felt it.
This was about 4 years ago.
This was a man who doesn’t talk much, and he’s quite very busy. He could be in a gathering for hours and not say anything.
Thus, anytime I was around him and he was about to talk, everyone seems to pay full attention.
We don’t see him much and he doesn’t talk much. We know wisdom was about to drop.
If you’re not a millionaire (Yet), at least, be a great listener.
I felt blessed to hear him speak that very day because he hardly spoke.
He was sitting quietly with his phone while I and the other guys were discussing about controversial issues.
To be precise, we were talking about people in power who were embezzling money.
Someone in the gathering then said ; “If I was in the same position, I would do the same”.
As soon as he said that, there was a kind of telepathic agreement with the above statement in the room.
The quiet, elderly wealthy man sitting across the room then said in a soft gentle way while wearing a smile ;
“If you have to steal to make money, you are not smart”.
Immediately, those words dropped, the room sighed in uniformity and there was a little bit of silence in the room for a few more seconds.
He (The wealthy man), took his car keys on the table and went into his room slowly.
Once again, he hardly spoke. Thus, each time he opened his mouth, you had to listen.
I don’t know about the other guys in the room but I really felt those words. Ever since, I quit looking for shortcuts.
By the way, this is not a moral issue, this is a choice issue.
Today, I say “NO” to a lot of ideas put before me especially when I don’t understand it.
Guess what? The one idea I say “YES” to, I give it my everything. I go into it to win.
Success requires effort folks and if you don’t know what you’re doing, people would brainwash you to think it’s all rosy on their path.
It ain’t all rosy folks. You have to pay the price and use your common sense to get the results you want.
Shortcuts end up being a disaster in the long run.

If you keep your head down and focus on that one thing you want to work, it might seem like a disaster in short term but in the long run, it becomes gold.
If you have an idea or concept, push it to the marketplace.
Yes, you might get rejected but who are you to think everything’s going to be easy? That’s a dangerous illusion.
Pay the price and keep working on your goals. You don’t have to steal to win.
Go all in on your deal and sooner or later, you’ll find victory.
