Yes, it’s been almost 3 years since I started blogging. It’s been a very challenging but mysterious yet interesting adventure for me.
Nothing comes easy but the journey would have been way easier if I understood branding from the very beginning.
Today’s topic sounds ridiculous. It sounds simple right?
If it actually was simple as you think it is, everyone would be a great orator or have a great brand.
This article is for people who are trying to build a solid brand for themselves, their companies or their business.
The greatest error people make when telling a story or building a brand is that they hold back (Mentally) .
Yes, they hold back on possibilities. They are waiting to reach a certain status before they can put themselves out there or tell their story.
Wrong move. By the way, you can’t build a brand to a significant level WITHOUT telling stories. It doesn’t matter what industry you’re at.
Think about it ; Every advert you see online or on TV is a form of storytelling.
Of course, facts don’t lie but story telling happens to be more potent in holding people’s attention.
Remember when you were a kid and used to love moonlight stories, right? Well, the same is happening today.
It just no longer happens under a tree. It’s now available on the screen of your mobile device or laptop – It’s a digital gig now.
Billions of stories drop digitally every second. It could be in a form of text, video or audio but not all stories are captivating or rich in value.
Story telling in the digital world requires that you connect with people on a deep level.
Plus, you can’t afford to steal other people’s story. Everyone has a unique story. You have a unique story too if you really decide to look inwards.
The purpose of your story is to tap into your audience’s emotions.
Before you can really tap into people’s emotions, you’re going to have to be as genuine as possible.
You’re going to have to speak from the heart.
Yes, you’re going to have to tell the public about your flaws and why not? You aren’t perfect, right ?
You are free to tell them about your victories too. That tells the public that you aren’t a sore loser.
Yeah, feel free to tell other people’s stories too ESPECIALLY that of celebrities – Their name alone captures attention.
It doesn’t matter if you’re telling your story or other people’s story, just ensure that your story is real, positive and keep it fresh!
You have to be clear on why you are telling a story. At the end of the story, what do you want your audience to do or take away?
For example, the reason why I’m telling you about the power of story telling is the fact that I want you to SUBSCRIBE to my YouTube channel.
I just started a new storytelling series (Mr Mih Inspirational Talk) where I tell my personal story to educate and inspire my audience.
As a matter of fact, I just dropped the first episode yesterday and I want you to be a part of this journey.
It’s literally the practical way for you to see exactly how powerful storytelling can be.
You can check out some of my previous posts to catch a glimpse of what I’m talking about.
By the way, if you study the big brands, you’ll see that everyone is just trying to paint a picture and take their audience on an INTERESTING journey.
Keep your story fresh and exciting. Stay creative about it. No need to fake anything. Keep it real! I’ll talk to you later.
