Today, I noticed something disappointing.
I’m currently at a small village somewhere in Nigeria.
I’ll be there for a few more weeks.
As I sat under a tree ruminating about some personal issues,
I saw some really nice cars coming in.
Remember ; I’m currently at a “small village”…
It’s something that rarely happens here as far as I know.
I made enquiries as to what was going on.
Then I heard a young man in the neighborhood had just died.
I was told he fell sick before He gave up the ghost.
I have no idea who this person was. Here’s what I know ;
After his death, fancy cars started rolling in.
Obviously, they came to pay their condolence.
There’s nothing wrong with that actually.
But I thought to myself ;
“What if most of this people that showed up in fancy cars didn’t check on their friend when he was sick CLAIMING they were busy”.
“What if these people didn’t even make a phone call to check on their friend?”
The truth is ;
We seldom care about each other when we are still here.
Look, we don’t have to die before we compliment each other.
We don’t have to lose someone before we check up on them.
With the buzz of social media going on, we forget how far a 60 second phone call can go.
Depression is at an all time high.
Check on your friends. Check on your loved ones.
It’s NOT enough to say you care…. You have to f*cking prove it!
